So who managed to catch the first episode of the new series? Was it any good? I'm stuck in Belgium for the time being so didn't get to watch it.

Fingers crossed this season is going to be as good as the last season. I've been a fan of the Doctor since the Tom Baker years, went of it slightly during the Sylvestor McCoy years but into it big time again now.

I was a bit worried before seeing the last series when I heard Billie Piper was gonna be in it but after seeing her in it I reckon she is great.

Even more so that they are gonna bring K9 back with Sarah Jane Smith and give them there own spin off series.

Also who is your favourite Who? Mine has always been Tom Baker and I can't imagine anyone ever being able to topple him.

No not got one, not got an internet connection yet either. I'm hoping to get an internet account sorted out next week sometime. If I manage it I'll have a go with the UK Nova, if I can get an account, I tried to go to the signup page but there was nothing there.

Oh yeah forgot :)

It's worth constantly checking in on the sign up page: they have a one out, one in policy but people get booted off often for not uploading enough.

Anyway, saw the Dr Who repeat on BBC3 and I really liked it. Miss Christopher Eccleston but Billy is getting better as an actress every episode. I think she's great. Writing was fantastic and funny as usual.

:-) Woo Hoo, finally I get to catch an episode of Doctor Who.

I'm in the UK and Doctor Who starts in 5 minutes, rumour has it it's the one with K9 in it, class.

Edit: It was awesome, great to see Sarah Jane Smith and K9 again, I remember when they left Doctor Who when I was a kid, I was in tears. Then at the end of this new episode when Sarah Jane and the Doctor say goodbye and K9 was hidden behind the Tardis it brought a tear to my eye again.

Fingers crossed the rumour was true they are gonna get there own spin off series, hopefully with some Torchwood and Doctor Who crossover episodes.

I had to wipe the odd tear from my eye in this episode too -- when K-9 sacrificed himself to explode the chip fat gunk stuff.

I like the humour. Had a few laughs - especially the Doctor's comments about pupils with hoodies, ASBOs and ringtones.

A Dr Who topic! .. wonderful, notwithstanding the nasturtiums cast by DLAF as to the middle-agedness of most of the females here!

I love the new series, and thought both Christopher E and David T excellent in the part. I too found the school episode very poignant and well written. I also thought the Girl in the Fireplace was excellent in the development of the Dr as lonely traveller.

Although I have commented on the fanciability of the Dr, joking apart, I am not sure I am happy with this. I think it is part of a deliberate attempt to make it more acceptable to adult viewers. This includes the introduction of a sort of sexual tension between Dr and companion that I don't recall being there before (or was it because I watched it as a child?) ... this was reinforced with the Sarah Jane episode and Mickey's comment about the "Mrs and the ex, every man's nightmare". I think it also almost made the Dr seem like a complete b*****d - not an acceptable development!

...and yes, I love the humour.

Wasn't Anthony Head a magnificent baddie - "nasty little shooty dog thing"?

I also agree with Midnight Creeper (elsewhere) when she says she is unhappy with the cybermen being portrayed as originating on Earth.

Update: Maybe there was a bit of a thing going between the 4th Dr and Romana ?

*ahem*

I'd just like to make it clear that I didn't say any of you were middle aged women...just Gaz ;)

Anthony Head is fantastic in everything - a real British icon.

LOL! ... yes he is, and I also think he is underrated, although he has come a long way since those Nescafe ads!

Speaking of Anthony Head, for a short time when I was a kid he lived in Pickering (only a couple of months as I remember) and I used to deliver his neighbours newspaper (the Express I think) unfortunatly Anthony didn't get one so my claim to fame isnt that great(more of a lame to fame).

Although I also used to deliver the paper to the guy that used to be on the Daddys sauce bottles :-)
