Sponsor | penman2 | Feb 27, 2:48pm | I would be interested in views on the newstyle BBC Homepage launched today, which allows you to customise it (to a certain extent).
As always, with these things, initial euphoria has turned to frustration. If it is supposed to be customisable, I want to get rid of that big block on the top-right (or at least be able to move it to the bottom).
Anyway, it's a great improvement visually - wonder if it will spread to their other pages ? |

I think part of my frustration is based on my familiarity with the old interface, and trying to become familiar again. I do like being able to add only the modules I am interested in. |

I can choose some of the news subjects I want to appear, but I can't eliminate the TV and Radio stations I don't want to see. Also, I can't change the order that chosen topics appear under, say, Music, News or Business and Money. I'm able to have a block for Science and Nature, but not one for Health or Politics.
I like the look and flexibility, but it's also damned frustrating. I'm not sure it's going to remain my Homepage. |

It *could* be useful, if you were always accessing the website from the same computer (so you can have a store of cookies and preference info and the site will look the way you want it each time) but otherwise......you get a mash of lots of content displayed in a very bad way that you have to search through, or select preferences for, each time you access the site.
I've already changed my homepage from the main site to the 'radio' page, since that one (and the TV homepage) still has the list of links at the top of the page.
I hate to be a luddite, but this isn't a good 'improvement' |

| Sponsor | penman2 | Feb 27, 3:57pm | | Good point, DG. My homepage has always been the BBC News site, but was considering switching to this. I'll give it go for a while, but it is somewhat unwieldy (and I don't want all that space taken up by that big block on the right. |
|
| Sponsor | ericthehamster | Feb 27, 4:22pm | I hadn't thought of defaulting to another BBC page.
I also didn't appreciate the difference in flexibility of each module - maybe this will improve with feedback? |
